Is ‘Normal’ What You Really Want?

Is "normal" what you really want?

“‘Normal’ is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work, driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for, in order to get to the job that you need so you can pay for the clothes, car, and the house that you leave empty all day in order to live in it.” (Ellen Goodman, http://www.ellengoodman.com/columns.html)

That quote does not describe the simple and sustainable life that I promote. I’ve had the quote pinned to my office wall for years. When I’m stressed about working for myself, by myself, with too much to do, I read it again.

Two other favourites that helped me make the leap of faith to working at home & developing my own business, as well as organizing my life the way I want (i.e., not worrying about anybody else’s opinion):

“Leap, and the net will appear.” (author  unknown)

“Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace and power in it.” (Goethe)

What is your idea of the perfect life? Are you living it now? On the right path? Taking the first step? Bogged down in a ‘Normal’ life and thinking you can’t get beyond it? Or are you perfectly happy with a ‘Normal’ life?
